I've started talking about books and series I liked in the introduction thread, but as the list grew longer, I've decided to start a new thread. So here is some things I would advide. Of course, it is not an exhaustive list, only things that I enjoyed lately. Of course, this thread is not only about my likes/dislikes, so don't hesitate to share your own favourites contents!
Lately, as I've been fed up with the usual white cis-gender male hero, I've been mostly reading novels with strong female or non-binary character, mostly Sci-Fi or Fantasy:
- the Wayfarers trilogy by Becky Chambers
- In the Mothers' Land by Élisabeth Vonarburg
- Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
- The Mirror Visitor serie by Christelle Dabos
- The Liveship Traders trilogy by Robin Hobb
I've read several Ursula Le Guin as it were recommanded to me but I have been disappointed (maybe it was feminist in 1968 but not so much nowadays). There are so many great books in this list, but if you feel a little bit depressed in this pessimistic time, I would strongly advice to read the Wayfarers serie by Becky Chambers, an optimistic feel-good Sci-Fi serie with inclusive writing, non-binary character, queer alien-human romance, supportive interpersonal relationship... Well, everything you need to cheer up and be more optimistic about the future of mankind.
I've also binged more TV series I'd like to admit, like The Expanse, Killing Eve, Sex Education, the end of the f*cking world, the IT crowd... To cheer up, I would also advice to watch Sex Education, especially the season 2 (and make your friends/siblings/kids to watch it). I wish I had such a TV serie when I was a teenager, that would have saved me a lot of time trying to deconstruct myself. There is still a long way to go, but it's already pretty advanced for a large-audience tv show. I'm just hoping that there will be trans and non-binary characters in season 3 because that is really missing. If Star Trek Discovery did it, well, I guess Sex Education can do it either đŸ˜‰
And you, what did you enjoy lately?
